Stella’s and Amani’s final hours in Nairobi
Just had a quick chat with Stella and Amani on what is their final day in Kenya. They were hanging out by the pool at the Roasters.
Some notes on Amani:
- Amani has four new teeth, and so he’s been teething.
- Stella says Amani’s language development continues to come along. He’s started calling a couple of his cousins by name - “ayo” for Ryo (Ryan) and some combination of “sasa” and “sasha” for Natasha — and he’s understanding plenty of Swahili commands. He once again said “Daddy,” “hi,” and “mambo” on the phone to me (I started to well up).
- Amani’s eating is still uneven (no surprise there, I guess) and he’s gotten some more eczema around his neck.
Stella says she had pretty much finished packing and will be entertaining another friend back at the house later this afternoon.
Flight out tonight is at 11:45, Nairobi time. Stella is hoping she’ll be able to use Amani’s car seat on the plane!
London next … then home!
Stella’s been without her phone for the last week (see the end of her last post to find out why), but I was able to call her friend Mercy Wasike in London. Stella and Amani will be spending the day with Mercy after touching down at Heathrow.
I’m getting itchy: I can’t wait to see Stella and Amani tomorrow night!
