on the last week in Nairobi
I meant to put up the follow-up story sooner, but I guess now is a good time as any other. Where was I? Our visit to Karol’s plush flat….after getting past the guards at the gate, Traqysha and her mother met us at the front steps. Amani and Traqysha had fun pushing and getting into the toy truck, then building puzzles with me and playing in the sand pit. We had a leisurely walk around the complex grounds. Back home, Amani has played with the other kids and quite often still scratches Natasha and Max’s faces. Occasionally Natasha has fought back and there are several nail marks on his face. He is also having some rash around his neck which I am guessing is as a result of using a strange soap for his laundry. He had allergic reaction/wheals on his legs and arms, but we could not figure what could have caused….probably eggs. He has been eating a little more- had some French fries and more noodle soup, but has refused to drink the fruit smoothies we were making for him.Amani had a lesson or two riding a tricycle, but preferred to have the seat taken off so that he could walk it rather that ride it. Our drive to Meru last week was uneventful, arriving just before dark. Dad’s old TV could not accept a new DVD machine, so we went out the next day and got him a better model. My Cousin Andrew and his son Nathan visited and we had breakfast outdoors. Armani fed the chicken, tried to touch the cows and had some photo moments at my ‘juju’s’ little house with sheep. He would say ‘baa’ whenever he saw the calf. After a delicious lunch prepared by none other than Mona, we drove over to visit my aunt Meeri and Muguna; where there were more sheep, cows, chicks and goats…you guessed it..more photos with the animals. Being a Thursday, there were very few people out at a nearby entertainment spot. Despite the low turnout, the kids had a blast at the playground. Amani walked up to the top of the slide and slid down all the way; seesawed with Natasha and even tried the basic ‘tyre-seat’ swing. The following day we drove back to Nairobi via Nanyuki- 270.9 km.I met up with Patricia at the launch of the Kenyan Australian Alumni Association (KAAA).I had a few drinks with Aggie, Dorothy, Mwenda, Rosie and Carol (cousin) at K1 and visited with my two good buddies Judy and Doris. They have beautiful kids. Now, I have to start organizing myself for the Saturday flight, OUCH!
p/s Amani put my phone in the sink with water on our last conversation with Bryan. It is so dead….I am lost for the |London numbers.
